It is really important to periodically give your feeders a proper clean to prevent diseases in your beloved bird population.
I used to blast mine with my jet washer, but that was overkill and now I use a bucket of water, washing up liquid and some scrubbing brushes. Once they are clean (and rinsed in cold water to get the soap off) I soak them in a very mild detergent for a few minutes. I chose Milton, as it's safe to use with babies. Then rinse again to get any residual detergent off the feeders.
This is my 'kit'.
The bottle brush (left) is especially useful. The only other thing you might want is a pair of rubber gloves.
Hello, this blog is aimed at anyone who would like to attract birds to their garden.
