Peanuts

The two important points to make about feeding peanuts to birds are, firstly, only use peanuts intended for bird food, as those for human consumption are poisonous to birds.  Secondly, always put them in a mesh feeder to stop the birds getting a whole one, which could be a choking hazard.  You can buy them crushed up already if you want to put them on a bird table.

As ever, only put out enough to cover a few days and then replace them with fresh ones.  They are quite inexpensive so don't worry about throwing a some away if they are past their best.  Peanuts are especially loved buy birds in the tit family.
